Desirable Objects
These small paintings on birch panel share the collective title Desirable
Objects— a reference to consumer goods and our almost fetishistic desire
for them. The panels are conceived as modular works that can be rearranged and
interchanged as desired, and are stacked and arranged like objects upon shelves.
Each panel is made by pouring paint directly onto the surface, asserting the
fluid, plastic nature of the material without gesture or brushwork.

Palisades Suite
Palisades Suite is a reference to the Palisades Mall in Nyack, New York, the second largest retail mall in the US; which in turn takes its name from the ancient geological formations, the Palisades, that rise above the Hudson River north of Manhattan. The painting’s wide format echoes the wide, low-slung structure of the Mall, and the heightened palette and kinetic rhythms echo the ceaseless, frenetic activity of the Mall.
